Local Carrot Cake Wins at Melbourne Show

Here’s another reason to get your exhibits ready for the 2025 Omeo & District Show!

Omeo’s own Mrs Grace Fitzgerald won the Victorian Agricultural Show's (VAS) Carrot Cake Competition for 2024.

How did Grace get there?

1.  Grace won the VAS Carrot Cake Competition here at the Omeo Show in 2023,

2.  Grace became a Finalist at the Gippsland Group judging,

3.  Then Grace came first at the State Final at the VAS Convention in 2024.

Grace told us “I am trilled to have received this award.  I didn’t expect it at all.   I do a lot of cooking for our shearers and now they will expect a Carrot Cake for smoko!  I enjoy being part of Agricultural Shows as they provide a place to share skills and expertise”.

Each year, the Omeo & District Show offer many VAS Classes in the main pavilion and outdoor events, that may include:

1.  VAS Open Carrot Cake

2.  VAS Open Rich Fruit Cake

3.  VAS Junior Carrot & Sultana Muffins

4.  VAS Junior Boiled Fruit Cake
